Privacy policy

What you type stays on your iPhone. Clacky’s keyboard has no networking code, accounts, ads or analytics.
Clacky is made by Muhammad Raufan Yusup, based in Japan (“I” below). This policy covers the Clacky app, its keyboard and this website.
The keyboard
Everything you type is handled on your iPhone, and I never receive it.
- Japanese conversion runs on your device. To improve its suggestions, it keeps a record of words you’ve chosen, stored only on your iPhone.
- Autocorrect and suggestions use Apple’s on-device spell checker.
- Recently used emoji and your settings are stored only on your iPhone.
Deleting Clacky removes this data from your iPhone.
Allow Full Access
iOS warns that a keyboard with Full Access could send what you type. That warning appears for every keyboard. Clacky asks for Full Access so it can play sounds and haptics, and share your purchased designs between the app and the keyboard. It doesn’t use it to send your typing anywhere. Typing with the free designs works with it off.
The app and purchases
The app has no accounts, ads or analytics. Purchases go through Apple, and the app talks to the App Store to sell and restore them. I never see your payment details. Apple gives me sales reports, and shares diagnostics only if you’ve agreed to that in your iPhone’s settings. Apple’s own privacy policy covers what Apple does.
The beta
If you join the TestFlight beta, Apple may share your invite status, and any feedback or crash reports you choose to send, with me. TestFlight is run by Apple under its own terms.
This website
- Beta sign-up: if you give me your email, I use it to send your TestFlight invite and to tell you when Clacky launches. Nothing else, and I don’t sell or share it for marketing. It’s stored in a Google Sheets spreadsheet, so Google processes it on my behalf.
- How long: I keep it until shortly after launch, or until you ask me to remove it.
- Fonts and hosting: this site loads a font from Google Fonts, and its host may keep ordinary server logs, such as IP addresses. Those companies’ own policies apply.
- Visit counts: this site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It sets no cookies, and Cloudflare handles those requests under its own policy.
- Cookies: this site sets none.
Your choices and rights
You can ask me to show, correct or delete the email address I hold for you. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information or the EU and UK GDPR, including the right to complain to your local regulator. Where those laws need a legal basis, I rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Your email may be processed outside your country, including in the United States.
Children
Clacky isn’t directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you think a child has signed up, tell me and I’ll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, I’ll update this page and its date.
